Local coffee story

Specialty coffee in Miami

Miami's specialty coffee grew in conversation with the city's Cuban coffee ritual, not as a replacement for it. Small-batch roasters added farm-focused sourcing and new brew methods to a market that already understood coffee as a social daily habit.

How the scene took shape

Panther Coffee is the clearest milestone in Miami's modern specialty phase. Leticia and Joel Pollock founded it in 2010, roasting small batches and opening in Wynwood as that neighbourhood was changing rapidly. Other roasters followed, while ventanita coffee and Cuban espresso continued to give the wider city its essential reference point.

The coffee scene today

Specialty cafés now operate in Wynwood, Miami Beach, Little Haiti, Coral Gables and farther afield. Menus move between single-origin espresso, cold coffee and drinks influenced by cafecito culture. The strongest local shops acknowledge both contemporary sourcing and Miami's existing coffee language.
